Taste of the Village offers preview of North Greenwood’s economic revival

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Hundreds of people got a preview of what community leaders hope will be a new chapter for Clearwater’s historic North Greenwood neighborhood during the “Taste of the Village” event.

The event showcased 14 local businesses slated to become tenants at The Village at the Grove, a new development expected to open in the first quarter of 2027.

From food and fashion to entertainment, the project is designed to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs while bringing new economic activity to the historically Black community.

For the Clearwater Urban Leadership Coalition, which is behind the project, the development represents more than new storefronts.

“Because the North Greenwood area has the highest concentration of poverty in Pinellas County, and it’s an area that was once thriving,” said Gloria Campbell, executive director of the Clearwater Urban Leadership Coalition.
